Symbicort

THEM PRESCRIBED AT HIS LAST PRACTICE) HE AGREED TO A TRIAL OF SYMBICORT 200/6 FOR TWO WEEKS. ( he is well aware this inhaler contains steriods!!!)

Has anyone had experience of fixed dose combinations (Seretide and Symbicort I believe they are called) and can anyone recommend devices that are really easy to use? Hope you can help! Hannah

IS this a side affectf of my meds - i dont think so becasue i ve been taking them for a while now (symbicort, montelukast and pred) or somthing new ?? anyi deas are welcome ... Thanks from a very thirsty katie xxx

Is anyone having problems accessing Symbicort 400/12. My pharmacy has told me this morning that there is a general supply issue across my city, so assuming it is a national problem too. And doesn't know when it will become available.

I am trying to reduce my symbicort (400/12) from 3 puffs twice a day to 2 puffs twice a day. I expect to have to adjust to the reduced long acting reliever but I am really struggling in the mornings without that 3rd puff.

I used to be on symbicort but that gave me the shakes really badly so I went onto seretide. It works great for me but unfortunately it's really affecting my vocal cords even though I'm taking it through a spacer.

I used to be on becotide and serevent a couple of years ago and don't recall having any complaints with it but was then put on symbicort which was ok but made me shake a lot.

I've been reading (both education for healths coursework, and BNF) about symbicort and I've become confused as to its contents. Both the BNF and education for health agree that it contains Formeterol as oxis 6 or oxis 12 and beclometasone 100, 200 or 400mcg.

GrannyMo 17 Apr 12 9:28pm I've had both symbicort and seretide. Symbicort, I had a tester whistle to get used to this type of inhaler as its a sharp quick inhale.

Philomela 17 Apr 12 10:55pm Charlie, I'm guessing 4mg is actually a pretty high dose - that's 4000 mcg and Symbicort is measured in mcg, so that's like having 10 puffs of Symbicort 400/12 a day!

Took me an hour to get sorted even with ventolin:-( gonna go and talk to my asthma nurse on Monday but just thinking I don't wanna be a wuss and really trying hard with the symbicort. Has anyone got any idea how long it takes for symbicort to actully show an effect?

Hi I am currently taking Symbicort 200/6 - 8 puffs a day and Spiriva dry 18mcg which has given me pretty good control since I started the spiriva. I have had a flare up for no apparent reason which has not settled despite a short course of Pred.

Gp wants me to cut the symbicort back to 200x2 bd ASAP but I want to sort this out first

- I was given a nice cocktail to of medication including antibiotics, singlair, symbicort and nasal sprays and betnesol and i had rhinitis at this stage. Oh and i also sported a operatic bronchial cough!

I have the symbicort turbohaler and there is no other way of taking it. My appointment isn't until the 19th Jan and I dunno what I can do until then. Any suggestions? Christine

Could it be cuz i've just started a new inhaler (symbicort 400/12 - only taken 2 doses so far)? And why did my chest go tight so quickly? A lot of questions i know but i'm a totally confused by it :o/ Christine

Has anyone out there who uses Symbicort ever come across a defective inhaler? I have been on this for a couple of years in varying doses. I started a new inhaler last week and wasn't convinced it was ""clicking"" right. I used it for a day or so and my asthma started to deteriorate.

He currently takes symbicort, ventolin, singulair, slo-phyllin, tilade and 10mg alternate day pred. At the beginning of last month Jay came down with a chest infection and was prescribed Clarithromycin, it set his asthma off so I also started a couse of Pred (40mg).

My pharmacist wants to see me in a week to see how the symbicort is going. I am relieved it is over & just wanted to let you all know. S.Mama xxxx

Seem to be steadily getting worse and taking a long time to feel better-really struggling to breathe in or out, slight unproductive cough, tight chest, hideous wheeze and chest pain, using a combo of the symbicort and a ventolin with a spacer- beyond reccomended dosage.
