SNEEZING OR COUGHING AFTER USING INHALER
Having just read the question about sometimes not knowing if your
Spiriva
had worked properly has prompted me to ask this question - what do you do if you sneeze or cough just after using your inhaler?

I was diagnosed with COPD last week:-
I was prescribed
Spiriva
, but read the contra indications, and as I have only one kidney I am reluctant to take this medication until I discuss this with my GP (I will be seeing her Tuesday evening after work).

Hello Everyone, My name is Martin and I have Stage 4 Emphysema
I was first diagnosed in 2000.My meds are currently Symbicort 400/12 and
Spiriva
. Prednisone and Zithromycin when having an exacerbation. I have tried Onbrez, but it made it harder for me to breathe for at least an hour and I did not see any benefit.

IRRITATING! (and Stressful)
Before tackling the surgery I decided to ring the Respiratory Team and check that his meds 2x puffs of symbicort twice a day, 1x
spiriva
once a day and 1x puff of bricanyl or ventolin as needed was the correct medication which gave me the confidence to tackle the doctors again!

Nothing's working
I went to nurse last Thursday, she is still not convinced I have COPD but Symbicort didn't help so she has given me
Spiriva
, Don't think this is helping, I have been more wheezy and coughing loads more.

Tai Chi
My GP says that is probably the
Spiriva
, but nothing to worry about. It's not too bad, but I wondered whether anyone had tried Tai Chi and whether it has improved your breathing and balance? Lynne xx

AN EMBARASSING QUESTION - BOWELS....
And also wondered if it was common to COPD sufferers or a side effect from the drugs (
spiriva
, symicort, ventolin and antibiotics and steroids when needed). Thanks

My first blog, and hello to all
I use
Spiriva
in the mornings and I have Ventolin for when necessary. I tried it to no avail and I was really scared. I ended up sitting in the bathroom with the door shut and the hot taps running to let the room fill with steam. I was in there and hour before I felt anything like relief.

AIR QUALITY in Britain - does this exacerbate our breathing problems ?
One curious point, the Security Officers checking contents of bags via x ray machines etc in Sicily were very curious about my "
Spiriva
Respimat Tiotropium Inhayler and it was taken away to be further examined for a few minuets, Lord above knows what POSSIBLE threat they thought that was to the aircraft

Has anyone been given this new COPD drug?
What I noticed in the reply was the following: "An alternative to
Spiriva
called Eklira Genuair has just been licensed.

Concerned about being on prednisilone
I'm concerned about the long term side effects of being on this, but can't see an end in sight as I am also taking 6-8 puffs of symbicort a day, plus being on montelukast and just started on
spiriva
.......Asthma is still not really under control and I am fed up! I haven't been able to work.

Breathing Techniques Explained
The difference is that
Spiriva
is intended to be a one dose daily drug to give 24 hour cover, whereas Atrovent is quick acting but short lived in the body. If you have
Spiriva
prescribed, take it, once daily. Do not take
Spiriva
and Atrovent on the same day, except under medical supervision.

Which is best
My initial medication was
Spiriva
. Which works to a degree. I say works to a degree because I'm wondering if the
spiriva
is supposed to make breathing easier or normal. I can take
spiriva
and still get puffy when I'm gardening, or drying my hair, and not just a bit puffy.

Lung Volume Reduction using Pulmonary Valves. My experiences as a patient.
After a spell in hospital about two years ago, I realised that
Spiriva
(Tiotropium Bromide, a 24hour controlled release drug), wasn't giving me the supposed 24 hour cover. In fact, I doubt I was even getting 16 hours.
