IPF
I know that the steroids aren't helping and her consultant has advised that a new drug
pirfenidone
, might be the answer, but mum being older and sometimes confused is reluctant to change drug, due to the long list of possible side effects the doctor told her was possible.

IPF and the Gilead Sciences trial Rainier
Is anyone taking
Pirfenidone
and has started on the drug trial for a product to be called Simtuzumab. Are you unusually suffering weak muscles, painful and inflamed joints making it almost impossible to walk, or use your hands, plus loss of balance.

Pirfenidone and sun protection
I wanted to ask anyone who is on
Pirfenidone
do you get your high factor sun protection on prescription or do you have to buy it yourself? Which brand does your GP prescribe if you are prescribed it?

. Has anyone else had this problem ?

'Meet the Experts' event in Reading
There was a segment on the drugs
Pirfenidone
and nintedinab which was informative as my husband may be going on the
Pirfenidone
which was what my initial post was about. Anyway it was an interesting half day and if you are close enough to a event worth a trip, go with your questions.

IPF research update - new developments in treatment
Recent studies into Acetylcysteine,
Pirfenidone
and Nintedanib have thrown up some interesting results, which may lead to changes in the way that some people are treated for IPF in future.

IPF and Emphysema ,
Feeling down and depressed, saw a consultant Monday at Papworth, more tests ,and some results. It looks like I inherited the IPF from my mum,the Emphysema which I didn't know I had is significant, whatever that means, which probably means I can't have
pirfenidone
as it was only tested on solely IPF patients

Specialist hospital - Royal Brompton or Papworth
Has anyone any experience of
pirfenidone
? Steriods was the only option offered at a later stage and the picture painted of the side effects did not good. What are others experiences?
