Oesophagitis
Her concern is genuine as I had an
oesophagectomy
to remove a tumuor 2 years ago and also her Grandmother died from cancer of the oesophagus some 20 years ago. Has anyone had a similar experience and how serious is oesophagitis?

Like many people who have had an
oesophagectomy
, I sometimes suffer from fatigue and a general lack of energy. I forwarded the post to the Chairman of our local Upper GI Network Cancer Group, on which I am a patient representative. He forwarded it on to the Upper GI Dietitian at Watford General.

Living With Achalasia
Hello Everyone, My name is Dr. Steve Horwitz. I was diagnosed with Achalasia at age 27 and have had dilations, failed Heller myotomy, and an esophagectomy with pyloroplasty in 2010 (at age 50). In addition, I was diagnosed with both gastroparesis and atrial fibrillation just prior to the esophagectomy

Osteoporosis or osteopenia treatments after esophagectomy
Has anyone had any experience with bone mineral disorders such as osteoporosis or severe osteopenia diagnosed after esophegectomy? And does anyone have experience with treatment of these disorders in a post-esophagectomy patient. I have had two bone density scans, the most recent about two weeks ago

1 Month Post-op oesophagectomy
Well, finally took the plunge and had the op. I was end stage Achalasia. My hospital stay was a little frustrating as my pain management was not what I was promised it would be and I can honestly say my whole stay was characterized by pain and nothing else. The Pain Team at St Thomas' was very meddlesome

Hypoglycaemia and late dumping
I had an
Oesophagectomy
several years ago but I am continuing to experience hypoglycaemic episodes some time after a meal and I presume they are related to late dumping. Sometimes thes episodes can be cured with coca cola or sugar but on occasions it has gone into a full blow coma.

Provision of RFA is patchy at the moment (there was one patient there who had been successfully treated by RFA only after insisting on a referral to another hospital after an
oesophagectomy
was planned for him).

Given up on Life
Hi, I've written a couple of times before regarding my hubby who is now two years and six months post
Oesophagectomy
. A few months following surgery in most things he was his normal self, although his physical strength had not returned and he did get very tired, which was understandable.

How can I help my friend?
About two months ago a friend of mine underwent an Ivor Lewis Esophagectomy, preceded by chemo and radiation therapy. They removed part of his esophagus and top of his stomach. He tells me that every time he eats now he either gets exhausted or is in terrible pain for about 90 minutes. This is so distressing

Parietal cells in the oesophagus?
I haven't had an
oesophagectomy
but had a Collis-Nissen fundoplication (repair) a few months ago. The Collis procedure effectively extends the length of the oesophagus by using a wedge section of the stomach - in much the same way as the stomach is used to form the oesophagus in an Ivor Lewis.

If cases where dysplasia develops are treated with radio frequency ablation then it may well avoid the need for an

Hernia's on my incision from Esophagectomy
Hi I have two very noticeable hernia's on my 12 inch incision that are painful periodically. My surgeon told me to wear a corset but they are to uncomfortable. Anyone else in this group ever had this and do you have any suggestions rather than a corset? You would think they would repair it. I have lost

My cancer was found purely by chance.
I sometimes have twitchy movements, and my head nods a bit. Not serious, but irritating. So my GP sent me to a Neurologist, who prescribed tablets to try to ease it. But the tablets didn't help at all, in fact they made it much worse, and I was twitching and jerking all over, including the muscles of

, In 1994 I had Achalasia. In 2007 I had the Heller surgery.. Looking for people 70-80 who have had surgery or esophagectomy.
Just completed week of tests with my doctor and told at my age (74) surgery not a option. No mobility left in esophagus. I am looking for people age 70-80 who have undergone esophagectomy.

Subsidies on beds?
I had an
Oesophagectomy
and Gastrectomy last January and everything has gone really well apart from I now have trouble sleeping a lot of the time - not necessarily due to reflux, thankfully I'm not plagued with that but due to ongoing discomfort in my back and side.
