Burning Sensation
I am three months post
oesophagectomy
. I have in the last few days had a severe sharp burning sensation behind and under my right breast. Has anyone any explanation for this or has it in fact nothing to do with the operation.

Chemo radiation or oesophagectomy?
My father is law is 79 but is very fit and for peace of mind wants the surgery (
oesophagectomy
). The surgeon said he is happy to do the surgery but is strongly recommending chemoradiation instead as it is so early stage.

Coffee anyone?
My husband had his Ivor Lewis esophagectomy 2 years ago. My daughter is adamant that he should not have coffee, even if it's decaf, because its acidic. She especially doesn't want him to have it first thing in the morning. She believes the acidity maybe I gback the cancer. Any thoughts on this? What

Esophagectomy 7 years on....
A relative of mine had an esophagectomy 7 years ago. He’s had problems with diarrhoea since. At the moment, it’s worse than ever. He’s just spent 12 hours in hospital on a drip due to severe dehydration. He was going to the toilet constantly for a number of hours. He kept passing out, was an awful colour

Esophagectomy Issues
Hi, I has an esophagectomy in May of 2015. 3 years ago. Before my surgery I weighted 258lbs. I now weigh 145lbs. I have been trying to gain weight. My issue is holding food down. I cant eat meats or any tough foods. I throw up pretty much daily. Anyone else have these kind of issues.

Hi Everyone: I am new here and if I see something that relates to my situation I click on it and read the posts - was just about to reply and the post I was looking at was 4 years ago, the one above it - 3 years ago?? Is there anyway to search for recent posts? Also, I had esophageal cancer and had the

update post Ivor Lewis
Oesophagectomy
has contoured inverse V shape cut on tummy and cut on underside of right shoulder. Stapled cuts. Scars all over the body for various punctures. Had horrible time in last days of ITU, and HDU due to nightmares and hallucinations because of long stay in ITU.

PPIs
The majority of us that have had an
Oesophagectomy
are on PPI medication. It seems to be that patients with Adenocarcinoma need PPIs the most and that accounts for 70% of these cancers. The Squarmous cell carcinoma patients tend not to need them as much..

A question for the ladies
It is my daughter's wedding 7 weeks after my
oesophagectomy
. I am guessing that wearing a bra will be out of the question because of the scarring but can anyone advise what to wear underneath my dress to give me some support. And how easy will it be to disguise the feed tube into the bowel?

Constant diahorrea!
I am 2 years post-op having
Oesophagectomy
. Have never suffered with dumping but am starting to get diahorrea more regularly with quite severe wind as well. I think it must be related to my diet. Are there any particular foods that I should avoid.

11 years since my total esophagectomy today
I am thrilled - the surgery has made my type 1 diabetes brittle but I am still here and am a mother of two young children who are 6 and 7 :)

Oesophaegectomy and Linx band
While I read GERD and lesser of HH patients done Linx installation, are there are cases where Linx was installed in patients undergone
Oesophagectomy
to counter reflux? Any information will be really useful. Thank you.

Need some information regarding Ivor Lewis procedure
I would like to hear from anyone who has had experience of an
oesophagectomy
as either open surgery or key hole. Or if anyone has had a combination of them both. I'm particularly interested to find out what recovery was like and positives and negatives please if that's possible.

Anyone recommend exercises to tone up my torso post transhiatal esophagectomy - roof top scars
Op was 4 years ago .Still quite conscious of discomfort/pain from surgery and site of feeding tube . Makes me overprotective of the area and I feel I'm not using muscles in that area as I should . I garden and carry heavy shopping etc - which is always reflected in areas in torso hurting . Does anyone

Esopghagectomy 3 months ago, 29 year old patient, what should my expectations be?
Hello everyone. I'm a recent patient of an Esophagectomy and have a few concerns, I hope I could get some insight on. I'm not exactly sure the type I had so I'll describe the circumstances. I'm 29 years old, and they discovered a mass/tumor at my esophagus-stomach junction. It was pushing the opening

4 weeks post-op abdominal pain
My husband had his
oesophagectomy
and gastric pull-up 4 weeks and 2 days ago. He’s been eating soft foods since day 8 but is really suffering with horrible abdominal cramps. He gets them 1 or 2 times a day, and it seems to be related to food going through his system.
