Feeling desperate
Hi I'm 39 and I've had asthma symptoms for just under a year. I was diagnosed in late spring/summer, although one of the asthma nurses in the practice didn't think I had asthma - apparently I don't fit the criteria. They started me on clenil, which worked really well but the regular dose still left

Brittle asthma, Anaphylaxis and the royal Brompton
Hello all, I haven't posted on here in quite some time, I'd sort of given up on trying to get any advice about my asthma. Over the eight week summer holiday period, I spent four weeks in hospital. After my last admission a couple of weeks ago I went home feeling tired, but my chest felt good, for over

New add on treatment Spiriva
Hello, I'm new to this forum, had asthma for over 30 years, I'm 36 now, but I'm in the middle of a very bad relapse. I've seen the consultant twice in the last 4 weeks. I take seretide 250, singulair, citerizine, nasonex, and now I've been given spiriva as an add on once a day. I thought it was stabilising

Is anyone else suffering from an increase of illnesses since having Viral Meningitis or Viral Meningio-Encephalitis?
Hi - I was admitted as an emergency with Mengio-Encephalitis in August 2011 and put in isolation for over two weeks. Since then, have been back into hospital four times: 1). Nov 2011 - I began a severe chest infection that four doses of anti-biotics couldn’t shift! 2). Feb 2012 - I was admitted

Hi, I've only recently discovered this website and have been so impressed with the support and kindness given to other sufferers here, that I thought I'd sign up too :) Here's my 'potted history' . . . . I'm 62 yrs old, married and an ex-smoker (10-15 a day for thirty years). My father died from

Possible next steps?
I'm planning to see my GP next week, so just looking for some advice so I can be prepared for what she might suggest. I'm currently on 2 puffs seretide 250 twice a day, fexofenadine and nasonex. Tried singulair last year and it didn't work. Have had a few courses of prednisolone and antibiotics over

Rant about hayfever
So much as I'm really glad that the sun is shining again, my hayfever has been bad for the last week - 10 days even though the pollen forecast says the count is low. I'm taking fexofenadine and nasonex on top of my inhalers and have been since the beginning of March. Yet if I go outside/open any windows

When do you say enough is enough?
I'm relatively new to AUK, so i hope this is in the right place. But i'm curious about when its time to put your foot down with your consultant/healthcare team? so far this year i've had four intensive care admission...(and its only May) and not an awful lot seems to have been done about it. I know

Pressure in ears
Hey guys, I wanted to ask if anyone knows if steroid inhalers can also relieve some inflammation in the sinuses/ears? I have just stepped down from Symbicort 400/12 2 puffs twice a day to 1 puff twice a day a few weeks ago. My asthma is still under control although I'm keeping an eye on it as I've

Handihaler and asthma
Hi folks, I'm feeling very depressed this evening. I've had a few chest infections over the last three winters, three in 2008, one last year and a mild one already this year. I spoke to the asthma UK nurse before Christmas and she recommended that I ask my doctor about trying a montelukas tablet in

Nasonex
Hi I've been using Nasonex for a couple of years now, and my asthma has been much better in that time. However, my nose is very very dry and it often bleeds when I blow it, but I have to blow it as it feels blocked up. Today, after I coughed,I realized there was blood in my spsutum. I think it is probably

Nasal Polyps
My GP thinks I have these. He has just looked up my nose which feels really stuffed and blocked like it needs blowing but dry. I use nasonex nasal spray - he prescribed nasal oral steroid drops but unobtainable at the moment - manufacturing prob so I'm to double my nasonex for the time being to try
