Graves’ disease
I took
methimazole
and got severe allergic reaction. My liver levels are high so my doctor has no other medications for me. She insists I get radioactive iodine to kill it. I am refusing and struggling. I have no symptoms. Once again in awhile I get heart palpitations.

Goiter and hyperthyroid to hypothyroid
The doctor advised no
methimazole
anymore but how can i go from severely hyperthyroid to hypothyroid so fast? Also my main problem is that my heart is beating fast. Even when hypothyroid. Thanks for any insight.

So scared of starting PTU
So my doctor will be changing me from
methimazole
to PTU, half a pill a day. I am so scared of taking it though, due to the stories about permanent liver damage. I know it's rare, but keep thinking it will happen to me. Any words of reassurance?

Cortisol and high reverse T3
Fast forward, I was put on
Methimazole
and PTU and it was making me have hypo symptoms. I got a few mes doctors and now they're saying my t4 is not converting to T3 but pooling as reverse T3. Such a nightmare. I did a 4 point saliva test for cortisol and have high cortisol all day and night.

AGRANULOCYTOSIS IN THE MIDST OF COVID-19
Agranulocytosis is a rare and potentially life-threatening side-effect of antithyroid drugs (carbimazole,
methimazole
and propylthiouracil). The chance of developing agranulocytosis is 0.2-0.5% (Vicentre et al, 2017) and in most cases it happens within the first three months of treatment.

Graves disease and Hashimotos thyroiditis
I've been taking
Methimazole
for 8 months and trying out holistic approaches like acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I'd rather not opt for RAI or surgery. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thyrotoxicosis PLEASE HELP
I went to a doctor abroad who had me try
methimazole
. People on this website have told me it’s the same thing as carbimazole... so of course it lowered my neutrophils again. Here I am now with a diagnosis of thyrotoxicosis. My free T3 is >46 but I have no reference ranges.

New Blood Results...Graves Disease and Concerned about Medication if it is the correct dosage from ENDO? Any Advice? I feel so sick!
Also, I am not sure why my doctor would keep me on
methimazole
when I am going up so rapidly to hypo now. I feel absolutely awful. He said he wants to slowly take me off
Methimazole
so I don't spike down to hyper. I am scared though. I feel so bad.

Oral Thrush- Graves Disease with oral thrush from antibiotics and prednisone. Starting a new supplement today oil of oregano🙏
I am also on
Methimazole
2.5 mg 4 times week for Graves. It’s been a roller coaster of health problems. Praying it will work and thought I would send along as recommended by Floridafan to get to the top of the thread. If anyone has tried this and had some luck or no luck please reply!

Indefinite antithyroid drug therapy in toxic Graves’ disease: What are the cons
The ATDs used belonged to thionamide class and includes
methimazole
(MMI), carbimazole, and propylthiouracil (PTU). Maximum clinical response occurs after a latent period of 4-6 weeks and ATD therapy should be continued for a period of 12-18 months after achieving euthyroidism.

-therapy Wow, time could mean hope for those with Graves on long term carbimazole therapy! I can partially attest to this.

Wish i could tag two groups.. hopeful after a couple calls and weird suggestions regarding platelets from PA
And that I had no cbc labs from when I was taking
methimazole
. She still thinks what she thinks but she made it clear that my platelet levels are not cause for concern even though its has been two years with one or two other “pop up to normal.” Its out of her area of expertise.
