Confused and looking for advice please :)
I was started on montelukast and changed to
fostair
and though the coughing has definitely subsided it's still present. I just had the best summer in over 5 years with coughing mostly when laughing, exercise and at night.

Asthma not settling after attack...
I'm in my third week now (had other minor attacks since) and on my preventer (
Fostair
) 6 times a day and reliever 4 times a day. I'm not sure my preventer is even working anymore. They said it was an infection but I have no other symptoms and my chest xray was clear.

The GP said it was actually an asthma attack although the
Fostair

Will the need to clear my throat go?
She changed my preventer from Clenil Modulite to a MART inhaler,
Fostair
(beclometasone and formoterol). I used it last night and had an uninterrupted night's sleep. Hooray! The cough is also gone this morning, apart from a constant need to clear my throat.

Ventolin plus Inhaled Meds Delivery System
Footnote: I've had incidents where Ventolin seemed to deliver little relief during an Attack, but 'additional'
Fostair
provided some 'much appreciated' assistance. I'm no Medic, so please don't try this yourself unless you've checked with your GP first.

Low peak flow
I have had 2 lots of steroids and I'm now on
fostair
inhaler that has stabilised things. I have a peak flow meter and am taking a reading 2x a day. When I started taking readings I was at 240, my lowest was 90 (when I needed nebulising) and I have now plateaued at 300.

Stitch/pain in side - shallow breathing
I have asthma and COPD, managed with
Fostair
and Ventolin. I had a stitch in my left side for a day or two and this morning I stretched in bed and it felt like I pulled a muscle.

Still coughing
Fostair
made me crazy. I have a few chest infections and tend to take pred/anti biotics 4-5 times a year. The consultant shrugs and says asthmatics cough. He says I’m fit.

Advised to take more medication than it's licenced for.
The consultant said to up my dose of
fostair
, even tho its not licensed for that amount, as
fostair
is helping a bit. Im wary of basically over dosing on this everyday until they come up with a plan. Dont know how long this will be. Im on
fostair
200/6, 2 puffs twice a day and 1 puff twice a day.

Has anyone changed from Seretide 250 to Fostair 100/6?
I have just had my medication for my asthma changed from Seretide to
Fostair
as the nurse was concerned that long term use of Seretide at a high dose could lead to side effects in the future like diabetes.

Severe/chronically poorly controlled asthma: what do people do with 'small' flares?
Already on max dose
Fostair
Nexthaler, Spiriva Respimat, Phyllocontin, montelukast. I have a lot of symptoms day to day but also sometimes get 'mini-attacks' - sometimes with an obvious trigger, sometimes not.

Which inhaler ?
The
fostair
100/6 inhaler is not helping, I shouldn't still have to use my reliever every time I go for a run, should I ? So I've made an appointment for tomorrow to see the nurse again to ask for another inhaler but not sure which one. any ideas ?
