Fostair NEXThaler
I've been railroaded into having Fostair NEXThaler by the Asthma nurse at my surgery , I've been on Clenin Modulute 250 mcg , salbutamol and salmetarol , 2 puff of each twice a day, for over 30 years ( back then it was
Becotide
and Ventolin ) and my asthma has been in control .

I Seem To Have 90% Cured Myself After Having Asthma/Eczema From Birth 47yrs Ago. The last 10% I think Is In My Mind.
Sent to swim as a child because it would help my lungs, aged 11 ish I was on Ventolin and a tablet puncturing 'whizzer' puffer that made me cough before
Becotide
arrived. At 16 I got a job which I at 47 I am still doing, albeit I'm running the place now.

Total crap
So after being ok for a few weeks and my tachycardia disappearing I'm having "an acute episode" (whatever the hell that means) and I've now got a seven day course of prendisolone to add to the mix and me heart rate is back through the roof So I'm using me salbutamol like a breath freshener,

Brand new to this, well, sort of - and need help to learn
I was well versed with
becotide
, ventolin, peak flow meters, theophylline, collapsed lobe in the lung (yes, that happened) and so on. Yet, as a carer of myself I have a lot to learn.

What do you take for Chronic Bronchitis
Becotide
seems to work a little but isn't a silver bullet.

Managing asthma without medication
I can't go to my doctor as I risk discharge so I have been self medicating with
becotide
and Ventolin. I was using medication occasionally but I have to use it daily now.

Persistent attacks
I was switched from
becotide
to seretide, which has subsequently increased to 250mg three times a day. And I keep having courses of steroids. But the asthma never gets completely better. I still have to use ventolin several times a day.

Nightmare side effects!
Been on ventolin and
Becotide
the majority of my life. At the age of about 14 I was also started on Serevent, however my asthma was still poorly controlled so I was started on Montelukast at the age of about 15.

Seretide is it the answer?
I think I was better controlled on
Becotide
but the GP or Asthma Nurse won't have that! I've put on about two stone in as many years and my sports I like, cycling and canoeing are seriously affected. I wonder if anybody else has gone back to
Becotide
or its current form/name Clenil Modulite?

Advice for severe asthma and 1st consultant appt?
My GP increased my
Becotide
inhaler to 800mcg per day but it still isn't helping. I am using my reliever about 6 times a day some days. My chest is so tight and I have a lot of mucous build up. I haven't been able to go out for months.

Side effects
I had a nasty bout of flu in September 2010 and my gp changed me over to seretide as
becotide
was not as effective. In December of 2010 I began to experience severe joint pain and eventually ended up on crutches as I couldnt walk.
