Just popping in to say Hi!
Now on day 6 of recovery and pleased to see a lot of posts about returning to near normality, the only real concern is the addition of
Amiodarone
and it's side effects.

Lamotrigine
I had been experiencing light headedness and vision problems which were originally thought to be a long-term side effect of
Amiodarone
, a heart med. (I have managed to survive two out of hospital cardiac arrests and now regularly buy a lottery ticket!)

Iodine ~ a collection of useful information ( because the search facility on Health Unlocked is totally pants)

The activity of deiodinase may be inhibited by
systemic illness;
iodide-containing compounds, including
and radiocontrast agents; glucocorticoid therapy; and selenium deficiency. Type 2 deiodinase is present in the pituitary gland and brain.

Stay on current meds or switch to Sotalol?
I was offered
Amiodarone
but a previous doctor and subsequent reading has put me off this because of the affect it can have on other parts of the body. I have also been offered Dronedarone but the recommendation is to try is Sotalol.

Tikosyn (Dofetilide)?
Apparently it is less toxic in the long run than
Amiodarone
, but it requires three-days in the hospital at the outset to monitor no adverse reactions (which can include cardiac arrest).

Procedure for Morbidly Obese with AFIB
I’m on
amiodarone
now and still having breakthrough attacks up to twice a week. They told me I need an ablation but can’t get one because of my weight.

Thyroid dosage for elderly Mom
note thru her my chart regarding her thyroid dosage.. just a little back story.. had iodine ablation a few years ago, (was hyper).. that led to hypo, and was put on synthroid, i think it started at 50, and went as high as 100 as a dosage... at that time she was also on an anti arrhythmia drug called

Fast AF/slow AF …symptoms
Fingers crossed this is going to work otherwise ablation is next on the list as I’m not a candidate for beta blockers & he’s not a fan of
amiodarone
. Have a good weekend everyone, I’m very nervous about taking my first few flecanide tablets but he’s assured me this will work well .

CRT-D device and Ablation? Advice please.
Cardiologist is going to put me on
Amiodarone
tablets along side the device then after some time will stop the pacemaker part to see if the tablets do the same job. Then depending on results will do an ablation to the left lower ventricle to get rid of the part of the heart that isn’t working.

Amiodarone
I’m due to have a Cardioversion on 5 Nov and Cardiologist seemed to infer the
Amiodarone
was in preparation for that. I talked to my GP who said to continue taking it and Bisopropol but I’m now feeling that can’t be right…. Looking for input on long term use of the above drug.

Amiodarone - yes or no ?
At the moment I'm on Sotalol before my CV (long time coming) but I am thinking about talking to my cardio regarding starting
Amiodarone
instead before my CV. I feel that after researching it
Amiodarone
is the most likely medication to keep me in sinus.

The dreaded Amiodarone
I don’t think I want to go on the
Amiodarone
. Has anybody else seen that verapamil can give you irregular heartbeats? I am wondering to ask to go back to the one again. Has anyone any suggestions. My energy levels are low. Thanks

Sotalol and troubles breathing
I would like to reach out to see if anybody has ever had similar experience as I do at present. After 7 cardioversions and 2 ablations I was eventually and surprisingly converted to sinus 7months ago with Sotalol(
amiodarone
and flecainide failed to do so) and remained in sinus since.
