Living with low blood pressure (BP) is also known as hypotension. This is usually defined in an adult as a systolic recording of less than 90 mmHg and 60 mmHg for diastolic. BP and heart rhythm are controlled by the autonomic nervous system. Blood pressure that goes down when you stand up is associated with frailty and falls in older people, according to a new study that advocates more testing.
