Good morning Tracy, I feel like an imposter really. I saw on my patient records a couple of years ago that I had been diagnosed with Syncope. No one has ever discussed this diagnosis with me so I'm not sure where I stand medically. In 2007 I was crossing the road and as I got to the kerb I went flat on my face. I supposed that I had tripped on the kerb but I don't remember anything. I picked myself up and apart from a broken finger I escaped serious injury. The next time something similar happened was in 2014 when I fell down some stairs without any knowledge of why it happened. On that occasion I damaged ligaments in my ankle. My G.P. did an ECG and referred me to a neuropathy consultant. He did some basic tests and ruled out epilepsy and that was really the only medical intervention I have had. I'm assuming that Syncope became the default diagnosis. I have other health issues and I sometimes wonder if some of them are connected but everyone I see seems to want to just deal with each individual issue and not take an holistic approach.

Hello and thank you for your post, we are very pleased to welcome you to the Forum. Syncope is a blackout caused by a sudden lack of blood supply to the brain, a fall in blood pressure and heart rate results in a lack of blood supply to the brain, so there is no such thing as a simple faint. Please get in touch with our Patient Services Team who are here to help info@stars.org.uk or call our helpline 01789 867 503 if you would like some advice or further information?

Thank you, I will email later today. I look forward to discovering more and maybe feeling better equipped to discuss it with my G.P. I had the misfortune to change G.P's last February so I've never actually met him, but he seems to be willing to listen (I was told I no longer needed B12 injections but he responded to my email and reinstated them). Thank you for taking the time to contact me and for the information.
