Firstborn, good question. I don't know the answer and don't think there is clear data on whether one cream or gel is better than another. Capsaicin cream may help---this contains "substance P" which may help block transmission of pain signals. There is also voltaren gel which is an anti-inflammatory gel but it requires a doctor's prescription at least in the USA. Hope this helps! Mary

I have been using Aloe vera gel and it does help it seems like it loosens them and there isnt as much pain
