Morphea Scars

Hi, my 9 year old daughter currently has dark morphea scars/patches on her stomach, left side of body and middle of back. To see this is an upsetting experience as it would be for any parent.

Does anybody know if these scars will ever fade and blend back into the skin colour making them unnoticeable? As it gets very uncomfortable for her when people start to notice them and she cannot also wear tops that show her stomach.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi Barry, sorry to hear that you daughter has the dark morphea patches. I can only speak from my own experience and as I am sure you have gathered by now, every case is different. I too suffer from these raised dark patches. At first they just look like bruises but they never go away, however, I my case, they have faded from dark grey to a light silver and most are only really visible if the light catches them in a certain way. Hope this helps

Hi. My son is 15 and developed morphea at age 10 secondary to Mixed Connective Tissue disease. He is currently in remission. He has several patches, mainly on his arms, thigh, back of his neck and hand. Some have faded slightly over the years and some haven’t. They tend to get darker in the summer when exposed to the sun. I don’t think you can predict what will happen and it may take a few years to see any difference. He follows an autoimmune diet and that has helped keep him in remission and possibly has helped the existing patches to fade slightly.
