Does having Raynaud's increase the risk of DVT? I am due to take a long haul flight next month & wondered if I need to take any precautions?

Hello, I have done quite a few long haul flights ..... I always make sure I have warm clothing, gloves, scarf and comfortable shoes and warm socks. Drink plenty of water and make sure you get up and have a walk about every so often .. You should be fine x wherever you are off too have a nice time .........

Hi, i did a long haul flight this year and was fine. My only problem was the air conditioning on the plane, so just wrap up warm and make sure you have gloves handy. My silver ones were great for on the flight. Have a great time x

I also did long haul flight last year and would echo the comments above- keep warm and wear flight socks.

Hi there. I travelled last year to the Caribbean and wore a pair of surgical stockings there and back. My mobility is not what it used to be. I have constant lower back pain and arthritis of both hips as well as Raynaud's and other bits and pieces so for me it was necessary. I would advise you to wear a pair of support stockings, they'll do no harm and will serve three purposes. (1)They'll will keep your feet and legs warm. (2) is good for the blood circulation and (3) will help to keep your ankles from getting swollen during the flight. Make sure to exercise your feet and ankles whilst sitting and walk around from time to time. You'll be fine.

If in doubt check with your GP.

If you're wearing trousers they won't be visible and they are comfortable. I think you can get fashionable one these days. Boots sell flight stockings. These stockings tend to be a little stiff so you may need some help to pop them on before you leave for the airport. Remember to wear them on your return flight also.

.

Wrap up well. You can always take off a layer if you get too warm. Have a great time.

IV just come bk from a 4 hours 15mins flight. And suffered badly from the start to finish plus 2 days at home after with badly swelled feet and ankles they just about normal again today. Arrived home Monday. Swelling had gone yest buy the pains were horrific. 1st time iv suffered this but usually only do a 2 hour 2 1/2 hour flights but will be definatly be investing in flight socks next time. I only suffer raynauds in my hands as well but I do have heart failure as well which affects the way my blood is pumped round my body. At my g.ps tomoz get sum advice as took pictures of feet. So see what happens from there. Good luck with ur flight ( no suffering). And av a great holiday
