👍 We are super-excited to be launching our new Sun Safe Workplaces accreditation programme at the Safety & Health Expo - the UK’s leading health & safety event, on 16th May at ExCel London!In the UK, 1 in 4 men and 1 in 5 women will develop skin cancer and outdoor workers are on average at 60% greater risk. Furthermore, the incidence of skin cancer in men is growing at twice the rate than that for women and men 69% more likely to die from the disease.It is estimated that in the construction industry, 99% of building site workers are men - highlighting in this sector alone, the significant role employers can play in tackling the rising incidence of skin cancer and saving lives.Our original Sun Safe Workplaces programme launched 8 years ago now and we are proud to be launching this updated version, urging industry leaders, employers of outdoor workers and HSRs to get onboard, fulfil their legal obligations and do their part in combatting a major public health concern.This comprehensive programme provides employers with a wide range of  tools to ensure they have everything they need to efficiently, effectively and confidently fulfil their moral and legal obligations to:• Conduct a Solar UVR Risk Assessment and review of sun protection control measures• Create and implement a robust Sun Protection Policy• Train workers about; the dangers of solar UV radiation; skin cancer causes and risk factors; how to reduce their risk both on and off the job; how to perform a skin examination and how to spot the early signs of both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.• Reinforce education and key messaging with a wide range of bespoke, digital and printed resources to support every aspect of their employee training.• Renew the accreditation annually to monitor programme effectiveness, maintain best practice and drive attitudinal and behavioural change.WATCH THIS SPACE! 💪
