1 in every 3 cancers diagnosed is skin cancer, yet 90% of cases are preventable by practicing simple sun protection measures.

☀ Both UVA and UVB rays emitted by the sun’s energy and/or sunbeds cause cumulative and irreparable damage to the skin cells which can lead to the development of both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer.

☀ Even if our skin tans rather than burns, the very fact it has changed colour is a sign of sun damage - it’s a visible warning sign from our skin that shows us it is working hard to defend itself from the damaging effects of UV radiation.

☀ When it comes to UV exposure, the message is clear - there’s simply no safe way to get a tan!

‼ If you enjoy having a tan - which the vast majority of us do - our advice without hesitation is to FAKE IT!

📲 For all the advice, guidance and self management tools you need to reduce your risk of skin cancer and detect the early warning signs - install the Skcin App for FREE...

📲 To install the Skcin App, in just a few taps - please follow these simple instructions:

1) Go to: app.skcin.org - in your web browser - i.e. Safari or Chrome (note: the ‘install’ will not work if you access the app through a link in social media as social platforms use their own web views which don’t provide the tools that proper web browsers do!)

2) Tap ‘Install’

3) Follow the 2 tap on-screen instructions to add the app to your home screen.

🧡 To help raise awareness to the people you care about this national Skin Cancer Awareness Month, please share our messaging across your social communities.

👍 Together we can make a difference and save lives.
