‼ Skin cancers like this basal cell carcinoma aren’t always obvious, but need removing as soon as possible to avoid disfigurement.

Monica Verlet, an advanced beauty therapist, electrologist and MASCED accredited professional spotted this basal cell carcinoma on her client’s skin and shares her story.

“My client and friend Sarah came to me about a small blemish on the upper inner ridge of her nose, thinking it was a wart or spot and wanted me to treat it. I told her that I wanted her to get it checked out as its appearance and location meant that it could be a possible basal cell carcinoma (BCC). I briefly explained why - taking care not to alarm her or make a diagnosis. Sarah had it checked out and phoned me a week later to say I was right and that she's scheduled to have it removed in September. I’m personally surprised by how small and not very visible it is, but my dad had one in the same location last year, which I told him to have checked out and it’s not the first time I have spotted a BCC on my clients.

The MASCED training is invaluable to me and I always tell my clients to have any new blemishes, especially if growing or changing, checked by their GP.

I am a registered Electrolysist with the BIAE, and I know many if not most of our members now take the MASCED training”.

Monica’s client Sarah said:

"Thanks to Monica the problem will be dealt with far earlier than it would have been and I am extremely grateful to her".

🧡 Great work Monica! Thank you for sharing your story with us.
