Ever skin type can burn!

Did you know, every skin type, even really dark skin tones with lots of natural melanin can burn? All skin types can be damaged by UV and we are all at risk of developing skin cancer.

It’s a common misconception that people with darker skin tones are immune to skin cancer. The amount of melanin in our skin determines our natural skin colour, those that have darker skin tones and tan easily produce more melanin which exists solely to protect our skin from UV damage.

When our skin changes colour due to UV exposure, even if we tan easily and rarely or never burn - it’s a sign of damage. Damage is cumulative and irreparable, so the more times we tan, the greater our individual risk of developing skin cancer.

There really is no such thing as a safe tan, unless of course it’s from a bottle!

Prevention and early detection saves lives.
