Ive been prescribe Fluorouracil cream to put on my sun damaged scalp. Several places especially a big patch. I have to put it on twice a day every other day for 8 weeks. The GP said the redder my patches get the more it is working. Can anyone tell me if it really works?

Hi, yes it does work, after not a very nice look takes over a month of nasty looking skin but sorts after that. Only thing is it can return which it has for me, in the same place, so now waiting on specialist app!!

I use this cream regularly it is a form of chemo treatment I treat different areas of my skin the idea is that it works by bringing out red marks that look like sores but this is good it seems then you apply a healing ointment for two weeks.

I am still treating my skin with two creams for seven years as well as freezing

I posted about this cream a few months ago but no replies - I called it by trade name Efudix which is same but easier for me to remember and spell. I’m using it on my lower lip for actinic cheilitis and finding it a bit of a nightmare as have to keep stopping for a month to allow healing and then restart it. Any tips for soothing my lip while using it would be welcome.
