Pressure, tightness in the lower thro... - The Australian Sj...
Pressure, tightness in the lower throat area, does anyone suffer with this condition? Ive now had it for 6 months and suffering daily.
Yes and mine is being relieved by a new diet.
Sugar, dairy and wheat free.
Think what I was suffering from was down to reflux.
Hi - yes, I too have experienced this. Someone mentioned acid reflux, but I have that too and that is much further down, in the gullet. What I have is a vice like tightening under my jaw and around my throat. I guess it's like the pain you might feel if someone was trying to strangle you. The attacks seem to come on when I'm stressed, or I've just pushed myself too far.
I've had Sjogren's for over 50 years (now in my seventies) and I only experienced this for the first time this year. Spoke to my GP and mentioned it to various consultants during regular visits - no one had a clue what I was talking about.
I used to have atrial fibrillation, on and off, for about 20 years, recently it seems to have almost completely disappeared. However, I do keep the GTN spray handy in case I need it. I decided to try the spray during one particularly vicious 'strangling' attack and it worked! The attacks have receded lately, but at least I know that the spray will work when I need it. The fact that GNT opens the blood vessels in the local region and relieves the pain, suggests that it is something to do with a literal, physical restriction; whether caused by Sjogren's or not I couldn't say.
I mentioned my discovery to my GP and his response was "if it works, use it!"
I have problems eating and will choke & gag......avoid anything to dry.....and slow it down.
