I am so grateful for having found this site as I really dont know how I could carry on after 1. recurrence. The members herind are a huge support and so BRAVE. Going in for results etc., has become easier for me as I read the experiences of the other members, and thus knowing im not the only one battling this.
Thank you : I am so grateful for having... - SHARE Ovarian Can...
Thank you
I’m so glad you found us too. For me, it was important to be able to talk with people who have walked in similar shoes. Family and friends mean well but sometimes you just need to talk with someone who has gone through something similar and who can relate with what you are experiencing.
I too was diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer in 2016 at the age of 69. I totally was depressed and angry but with the help of the antidepressant Lexapro I have been able to handle it.
Had an eight hour debulking surgery at Mayo Clinic,in Arizona. Had six chemo treatments and the ostomy reversal surgery done after 6 months. I had 18 months of good health until I discovered a swollen lymph node in the groin.. ct revealed 5 more enlarged lymph nodes so had to have 6 more chemo treatments. All has been good now since last November. I have been put on the drug Zejula which is a parp inhibitor which I have been able to tolerate at 200mg. Optimal is 300 mg.
My CA125 is normal and the HE4 blood test is good. Both are ovarian cancer detectors. I do not see many ladies being followed with the HE4. My doc at Mayo really watches what the HE4 numbers are every month. she says it is the best test for reaccurance for me.
Liz I hope you have many many good years ahead of you! We just have some bumps in the road to keep on going.

Hej KCWM...thanks for the encouraging words It really is a great help. I see you have been through a great deal, sorry to hear this, but im so happy that you are now on Zejula. Are you Braca negative or pos. ? I have never heard of the HE4 blood test and will ask my ONC at next meeting. I get the CA125 done but dont ask for the results as I know that even rise in one digit freaks me out. I went in for scan results yesterday and ONC told me ...no change, nothing growing and just what appears to be scar tissue after radiation is what is seen on the scan. Im BRACA 2 positive and been on Olaparib just over 2 months now. I hope you too have many many good years ahead of you too. I pray that the Zejula works for you...X
You"re never alone! We all support each other. Some have had reoccurring cancer, some like myself have not. My friend with ovarian has been on and off chemo for the last year and a half. Her tumors have slowed growth, but are still there. We fight a good fight to the best of our ability that is all anyone can do. This year is tough, but next year will be a good year, stay positive. Many prayers, Liz❤❤
Thank you so much Liz... the encouraging words really help and when Im feeling down and teary I log on here as I feel my friends and family dont have the same understanding about how one can feel after such a diagnos . This site has really helped me so much. Im happy to hear you have not had a recurrence . How long has it been? Are you on anything? Many prayers for you too ..from me...X
I found this site a couple years after I was done with chemo. Happy I did, it's been a big help. Knowing I'm not alone, they do so much for breast cancer. No one knows what to say when it's ovarian cancer. I have a friend that's going through ovarian now, I'm there for her. ❤❤Liz
