Did anyone’s bone scan show something that ended up being inflammation in the hip? Thanks.

Hi Marianne: I have inflammation on my hip caused by Osteoarthritis. Also diagnosed with breast cancer. There was always a question if it was breast cancer on my hip or not. Mostly second opinions suspect Cancer and Osteo. It has also been reported after scans as Paget's disease. It seems it is very difficult to diagnose. Not sure if this helps you.
Thank for replying. My bone scan showed something but the ct on the same day didn’t. My medical oncologist thinks it’s inflammation but wants to do a follow up bone scan because the radiologist does. I’m so confused.
No wonder you are confused. I would be asking for a second opinion on that bone scan before you have another scan done. They may balk at that but stick to your guns. Or take the scan to another scan doctor yourself. Anytime, they leave me confused and not able to make a decision I get a second opinion. Hope that works for you. In Canada there is no limit on the number of times to ask for a second opinion if you have cancer.
Wishing you all the very best.
Cheers, June S.
I've been told I have inflammation in my hips, knees, shoulders, feet - it shows up on the bone scan. I went to the foot dr because my feet are so bad I have a hard time walking - he took an X-ray and said I do not have inflammation. I never had this issue before my breast cancer diagnosis. I also went off Ibrance and Letrozole for 2 months (because a side effect of letrozole is stiff sore joints) - but nothing changed either. I have a PET Scan scheduled for December - that test is the tell-all test for cancer in your body. If it comes out good, then I will get a referral to another Dr that treats Osteoarthritis etc. I need to get to the bottom of the pain.
