Risen.
It is now my all time-favorite movie to watch during Easter. It is about a roman tribune (Joseph Fiennes) who by orders of Pontius Pilate is ordered to find what the Jews had done with Jesus' body as it was guarded by Roman soldiers and had a super large boulder blocking the tomb and yet the body was not there on the third day.
The movie is from the view of the Roman Tribune (Top solider in the Roman army) to find out what happened to the body (as it was believed the Jews had somehow taken it and stolen it so as to continue the "myth" that Jesus even had the possibility of rising from the dead.
And you can this Roman Tribune who hated the Jews and believed in the gods that they prayed to and as you can go through the movie, you see the Roman Tribune start to see things and start to question his own beliefs.
It is a wonderful wonderful movie that has one scene that made me cry (I won't give that away) but it is a spiritual feel-good movie that does not focus as much as the story of the Crucifixion of Jesus but the change as the Roman tribune starts to question what he believed when he himself was in charge of making sure that Jesus was dead.
Risen. It is a great movie for those who need an uplifting religious movie to watch during these hard times. I have watched it like five times already and it still moves me.
