Ssdi

Good morning ladies. This isn’t a medical question but sorta. Does anyone collect ssdi and work part time? I asking because until the virus hit I was working part time as a substitute teacher while collecting ssdi. Although it isn’t a lot of money it did help pay groceries and such so I was wondering if anyone applied for unemployment to make up for the part time work. Thanks. Marianne marino. And stay safe

I’m from Canada so can’t help you with this question but I’m sure somebody on here can. All questions are kind of medical as they affect us and we are all in the same boat. Always ask whatever you like. Have a good weekend.

You can apply for unemployment & get SSDI as long as you don’t exceed the income threshold.

Was SSDI aware that you were working part-time in addition to your SSDI? Did you notify them first?

The rules are different for those who are of retirement age and collecting SS benefits as opposed to those who are receiving SSDI benefits claiming they are disabled enough NOT to be able to work so different criteria.

If you let SSDI know that you were working and you are below the threshold limit, you should be able to file for UE although obviously it will be very small but every penny helps. See below:

"Can I work on SSDI 2020?

Generally, SSDI recipients can't start doing what's considered "substantial gainful activity" (SGA) and continue to receive disability benefits.

In a nutshell, doing SGA means you are working and making more than $1,260 per month in 2020 (or $2,110 if you're blind)."

Not what you're looking for?
