As each of us knows it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. How is affecting you? Does it feel like a constant reminder that disturbs you? Or are you glad that people are paying more attention to a serious disease that affects hundreds of thousands of women each year?

Hi,
I have mixed feelings about it. It's good there is more awareness out there, but I also don't like it when people jump on the "pink" bandwagon or go on about how they "beat" cancer. It's great that many people have been given their lives back, but this is a disease that I, and many others, have to cope with for the rest of our lives. I also prefer to change channels if I see something on TV about breast cancer.
I participated in the "Breast Friends Rack Run," wearing a pink tutu! This is a fundraiser for cancer patients who need prosthetics, bras, transportation to treatment, etc. It was also a morale booster for me, and I hope for others who participated either as run/walkers or supporters!
The first year was the hardest for me. I was just diagnosed in July’16 De Novo MBC from day one...so this whole thing was new and overwhelming come the first October 3 months later. But today is the Pink out at school and I’m rocking my Disney Pink ribbon warrior shirt! ...I hope to have fun with it as long as I can...why not! Plus it’s a great witness tool. Everyone has lots of questions...I feel they want me to do well as we all know someone who will get it at some point...it gives others hope when we can stay positive! (But we all do have bad days. I just Hope the good outweighs the bad)
