Bring someone with you and bring a tape recorder with if you have one. Two people can hear the same conversation and hear it differently. With a recorder you can refer to it when you research your options or if you find it's too much to research yourself you can give it to the person you trust to help you and they will know exactly what the doctor told you. It can also help if you forgot to ask things you meant to ask. Talk to others that have had the same diagnosis. Ask for and except all the support that is offered or available.
