Severe rls
See my reply to your other post.
I see you posted 4 months ago, everyone replied, and then you disappeared. Please don't disappear again.
Your mother is suffering because she has augmentation, very, very common on dopamine agonists.
Your mother has a strong legal case for negligence.
Madopar hasn't been prescribed for RLS for decades because it had the highest rate of severe drug induced worsening. To add 2 times the max dose of Pramipexole to that is criminal negligence.
So, please, please tell us where she lives. Which state she's in and we can direct her to a doctor that will get her off all the meds that are the cause of her suffering.
On those doses of dopamine agonists and the anti depressant, no wonder she doesn't want to live.
Her RLS will be unbearable. And all caused by medical negligence.
Thank you for the help and concern. My mom is in turkey and i am currently researching private specialist or professors that deal with rls.
There won't be many. Turkey is far behind on treatment, just like most of Europe. You need to find a doctor who has heard about the Mayo Clinic Algorithm and who will prescribe low dose opiods to help your mother OFF madopar and pexil.
She will have to reduce both drugs very slowly over 6 months. Her withdrawals will be difficult, but until she gets off all dopaminergic drugs, she will continue to suffer.
Most people replying to you have been through withdrawal, so we know what is ahead.
Once completely off dopaminergic drugs, your mother will have to replace the anti depressant Duloxetine with a safe anti depressant. Trazodone or wellbutrin.
Replacement meds are gabapentin or pregabalin, but they Do NOT help until about a month after the last dose of dopaminergic drugs.
In Turkey, they may try to switch your mother to the Rotigitone patch. That will NOT help. It is a temporary, short term fix. But it will quickly cause suffering again.
Find a doctor who understands augmentation and follows the Mayo Clinic Algorithm.
Good luck.
