Just added .25mg of klonipin at night.Having a terrible time with it.
Seems to trigger RLS, shortness of breath, very groggy next day.
Anyone else have side effects?
Previously on .25 xanax at night.
Worked pretty well at helping me sleep. Also have been taking .5mg of the controversial Ropinirole for 4 months which works very well so far. I can't take Gabapentin due to COPD.
Just wondering why I'm having such a hard time with Klonipin as it is basically the same as Xanax.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Klonopin (clonazepam) and Xanax (alprazolam) are both in same class of drug (benzodiazepines) but are not the same as each other.I haven't heard of clonazepam triggering RLS before. I'd be having a chat to your doctor/pharmacist about the shortness of breath.
I can’t speak to the Klonopin situation other than that shortness of breath. I’d be really careful with and again talk to your doctor has others have suggested.
Regarding ropinirole, there’s really nothing controversial about it. It works great for the first year or two and then it will augment your symptoms, Meaning it’ll make your symptoms way worse and it’ll spread throughout your body over time. What’s insidious about this drug is you don’t even notice it until you’re pretty far into much deeper symptoms, even worse it’s incredibly difficult to wean yourself off it, so my advice would be to start Looking for an alternative drug in the not too distant future.
All of the above is based on my experience being on ropinirol for six years or so, and having the most terrifying experience, trying taper off, which took two attempts.
I appreciate your reply. I know about Ropinirol and augmentation. Discuss it with my neurologist at every visit. Because of my COPD (stage 4) there really is no other drug I can take. I think my doc feels I've only got a few more years left so do what we can now. My thoughts not his.
Was hoping klonopin might be an alternative but didn't do well on it. I've tried Gabapentin, side effects affected breathing. Made me very anxious among other things.
