my husband is weaning down. His ropinirole from eight mg. He is currently on 6 1/2 mg and just has a slight amount of RLS coming through mostly around 10 o’clock at night. The worst part is he wakes up at 3 o’clock in the morning and cannot get back to sleep, he does not have a RLS at that time just wakes up at that time. Could this be from the withdrawal of Ropinrole he is doing?

insomnia in middle of night
Zopiclone (Imovane, Zimovane) is a nonbenzodiazepine with an onset of 15 - 30 minutes and a half life of 3.5 to 6.5 hours, so is good for someone who wakes up in the middle of the night since it is less likely to make him sleepy the next day.
Yes, ropinirole can cause rebound insomnia.
At the wake-up time you can try a single ibuprofen dose (it's a glutamate blocker), or even 1/2 of 100mg. I also use Ashwagandha (ksm-66) and L-Theanine (an amino acid, 100mg).
I did not have that experience, I woke up because of the restless leg symptoms. Although I would be fairly certain that it’s all part of the taper process. completing the taper and the two weeks after with no drugs at all it became very clear to me just how much is this drug was taking over parts of my brain. I cannot express Adequately just how calmed down my restless leg is and my general anxiety around it after going through this process. I had to resign myself that I was not going to sleep much through this and made sure my work colleagues understood that my presence would be intermittent. Let me know if I can provide further from this experience at any time.
