I was on this medication for four days. Absolutely worst experience of my life. Restless legs were excruciating to point that I felt like I was having Grand Mal Seizures in my legs and literally crying out to Jesus, Mary and Sweet St Joseph to relieve the pain. Finally remembered I had leftover Alprazolam from previous dental procedure. Between that and my husband massaging my legs finally got some relief. Also the drug precipitated a 55 point drop in blood pressure within 3 hours after taking 3rd dose. If you have RLS avoid this drug.

Loverof Paris's Reply shows that "we're all different". Tamsulosin, which I went onto for a few months from November 2020, didn't trigger my RLS. (BTW I found Tamsulosin was ineffective in helping my bladder problems, but then I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in Jan 2021).

It wasn't until I had a TIA and was put on to Atorvastatin in March 2021 that RLS got nasty.

There are few hard and fast rules in RLS - some people even find that statins don't trouble RLS.

Susceptibility to various meds varies by person and can also vary by dosage. For example, some people report problems with losartan (for blood pressure), dosage can be anywhere from 25-100mg/day. I have been on losartan for months with no RLS symptoms - mostly on 25mg but for the last month on 50mg, with no issues at all. On the other hand, I know if I were to start gulping diet drinks again - particularly those containing aspartame - I'd be jumping around for hours again.

You are right Chris! Different strokes for different folks. Like you, I am on Losartan now at 50 mgm. Had been on Celexa and just finished very long taper from it. Has made big difference! No longer start with twitchy legs in afternoon. Yet others seem to tolerate Celexa without a problem. Right now observing incidence of RLS with Losartan. Not sure that it’s causing any problem.

SSRIs like citalopram (Celexa) are often said to be bad for RLS, but I've got a brother who took citalopram without RLS problems. And while magnesium citrate and being careful controls my RLS, I have another brother where magnesium doesn't help at all. Go figure!

I couldn’t urinate if it weren’t for tamsulosin. It is a miracle drug for me. No side effects at all. Certainly doesn’t aggravate my RLS.

We are all different.

Hi Hages.

I've been on tamsulosin for years and never noticed any increase in my RLS symptoms as a result. Of course, everyone is different. I have an enlarged prostate, and tamsulosin helps somewhat with easier urination. I combine it with tadalafil, and the combo seems to work fairly well. Good luck!

hi Hages- I’ve used it for years, had a couple of times when I haven’t used it for months (it is of marginal effect to be honest), and not noticed any change to the RLS either way.
