Interestingly in checking this I found that clarinex, a prescription antihistamine is used to treat labrynthitis. Don't take Meclizine (Antivert) which treats dizziness but may worsen RLS symptoms. Transderm Scop is used for motion sickness but is more for anti-nausea and might help and is safe for RLS. Also don't take Phenergan (promethazine, Promethegan) which can cause worsening RLS symptoms.
P.S. Although the medications l said might worsen RLS symptoms, they do not affect everyone equally and might not make your RLS symptoms worse. You can always try them and stop if they do. In that case I would start with Antivert.
Hi,I can take Betahistine for vertigo and it doesn't affect my RLS .
Hello Marsha,I had very severe labyrinthitis after exposure to a beam of ultrasonic sound caused by a piece of machinery, I had to lay in bed not moving for 3 days before it started to improve, any movement caused immediate sickness so there was a bowl by the bed at all times. The meds from the doctor, including an injection did not help me. I think you need to do a lot of nothing and just wait for it to wear off
