Apparently alpha2 delta ligands are the new street drug of choice. If you force yourself to stay awake after taking them you get a high.

Well I take them to control RLS and as a sedative and am often awake with jumpy legs but have never had a “high”.

The OxyContin I also take is a controlled drug and in London I just have to double sign for it ( literally sign the back of the prescription twice ). It also means the drug won’t be held in stock overnight at pharmacies to avoid addicts breaking in. I presume pregabalin and Gabapentin will be subject to the same rules.

Worrying news, but hopefully not too worrying for those of us who rely on these drugs.

This popped up yesterday on FB, i think it will just mean you will have to sign for it like when you have tramadol. My Tramadol and my Tramacet i get delivered to my door from the Pharmacy, and i just have to sign for them. Doctors will probably just watch for when you ask for a re-fill, that you are not taking more than what has been prescribed.

aye i have sign the blue box on the back for tramadol like you said no doubt that will be what happens with gabapentin not that it does anything for my RLS but certainly stopped my Trigeminal Neuralgia , i sent a friend a link of the article think she put it on fb as i haven't been on fb since new years eve . my MP was in charge of the thing i think not that she has owt to boast about seeing her husband grow about 8 football pitches size of canabis for the government to sell to the US hmm... from sugar to dope lol

thanks. has to be sensible precaution to avoid misuse and miss supplying. a few years ago when i was taking pregabalin and was also volunteering in a charity shop which also helped rehabilitating prisoners, one of these spontaneously started boasting about how easily available pregabalin was in the prison and the vast quantities they took, way above standard doses. i was gobsmacked though said nothing, especially that i was taking it, but it just shows how these things creep up on society in a dangerous way and the regulators need to take action
