Hmmm- I could say it's just the same- gets bigger and better and not in the legs.😂

But really it's where the medication- especially dopamine agonists- eg Mirapex etc , are not as effective and you need to take a higher dose to control the restlessness - which now will start to affect more of your body.

The answer is not to take more of the same medicine but change to a different control med. Withdrawal is part of this process ( no - not that withdrawal) so one needs to cope with that also. All this needs the help of an experienced supervisor or you do a lot of research and become your own expert and find a compliant doctor. All the best - and keep up the research. You will get through this.

Well said madlegs 😂 Love the name by the way...just wanted to say I totally agree with you has we speak its what's happening to me, Iv got way to use to my pain meds and seeing a professional drug dr with my own GP , we are going to have a meeting to find what's to best next meds to swop too and in a safe way, all I dun was asked my GP and I got in touch with our local drugs & alcohol miss use hub and now I'm going for a meeting,so maybe if you need to do something with that long word what Iv never herd before but just learnt what it means and I'm doing it right now lol so thanks for that guys xx

Augmentation is when your system gets used to a certain medicine and it no longer helps. I started out using Requip for RLS and it worked for several years. For it to be effective I had to take it more frequently so I switched to Merapex and was able to go back to the minimum dosage again. Hope this helps. There was no side effects or withdrawals when I changed, just changed prescriptions.

Signs of augmentation are symptoms starting earlier in the day, symptoms spreading into other body parts most commonly the arms, symptoms starting after shorter periods of rest nd relaxation, needing to up the dose of the medication to get relief .Augmentation can happen with any of the Dopamine Agonists eg Mirapex ( Pramipexole,Siffrol ), Requip ( Ropinerole ) and the Neupro patch. The worst offender is Sinemet. The higher the dose the greater the risk of augmentation. X
