Its when the medication you are taking usually the dopamine agonists like, Mirapex (Pramipexole) Requip (Ropinerole) Neupro Patch, and even Tramadol for some. turns against you,RLS starts earlier during the day, can cause it to affect other parts of your body, arms, torso, and stops working at night. Upping the dose of the med will give relief for a while, then augmentation will start again. When augmentation starts, then its time to try another med.

Even the Requip web site admits that it can cause augmentation. rlshelp.org is a good site to go to for reliable info. Elisse is right on with her answer.
