Jim has been admitted to hospital today for placement. the Dr. said enough. He has deteriorated rapidly in the last 3 weeks. He hasn't been eating as he chokes on everything even thickened water. When he chokes he has difficulty clearing it and it looks painful also. He then quits eating. Yesterday he didn't eat anything except 2 tsp of thickened juice. He was not alert at all so unable to coax him to have anything. He has a raspy cough and non responsive. It is not looking good. Will find out more today.

So sorry, Folliott. I had not realized he was doing that poorly. Praying for you both.

Oh my I did not realise this. I do hope thatt this replacement is a PEG? I f , infact this is what he needs...and it sure sounds this way....As you may have read, Bruce also is reducing his intake due to choking. I have not found a supplement. Someone said yogurt salt and water........and everyone has had some type of experience with solutions to the choking. I hope you find the solution that helps Jim remain comfortable and safe.

No PEG. He is in a coma like sleep right now and being treated with comfort care. This will all end soon. Very fast downhill slide in 3 weeks.

I am so so sorry. Upon looking for your first(?) name I came upon many of your past 6 months of posts. I now see that I did know Jim and your situation. Please forgive my inability to remember......Your past posts are very enlightening....I appreciate that you reached out to this site, you've helped me to see the progress of, well, honey the end. I am crying right now thinking of words to say......I just feel like streaming my thought to let you know that you are not alone , we are all with you, holding your hand and crying. I think to myself, "am I doing enough?" and I see all that you done and the help you sought from we carers and I know that YOU have done all that you can. YOu have made Jims life comfortable and safe.....all your married life ...to be sure....

And so I answer, Yes I am doing all that I can do...and that is because of people like you Folliot who have asked questions , tried out new ways and finally accepted the awful reality that life finally leads us to.

God bless you darlin'. God bless JIm. God bless your family.

Give them strength and comfort Lord let them know that You are here always. amen

Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy, no one will take from you.
