When you were on active surveillance, what where the factors that made you decide it was time for treatment?

I can't remember the exact terminology or numbers any more, but after several biopsies that didn't change anything there was a biopsy with more cancer than before and some atypical cancer cells that puzzled the doctor

Gleason 3+4 at diagnosis in Oct 22, repeat biopsy Nov 23 showed slight progression, psa went from 4.2 to 5.1 in 18 months was told I could stay on AS but couldn't handle the stress so decided on treatment.5 sessions SBRT at Christies Manchester shortly, appt with oncologist next week, presumably treatment dates will be confirmed then.

Getting stressed about treatment but need to get it over with ASAP.

Brother had 20 sessions EBRT at age 59 for pc 13 yrs ago with no recurrence and minimal SEs, hopefully I'll follow suit he can't remember his gleason score and he's lost his biopsy report typical of him.

Diagnosed in Nov 2018. Fortunate to have found an AS study. Stable for several years both PSA (~3.0) and biopsies (3+3=6). Then PSA started to climb up to ~7 and MRI guided found cancer closer to the margins and raised Gleason to 7 (4+3). Had surgery in early 2020.

The fact that the PSA was stable for many years began a climb for and the biopsy result was an indication that I could not ignore and signaled it was time to take action.
