Another roadblock to renaming are IRBs. They will not allow hospitals to rename or even test the hypothesis via RCT until there is evidence of non-inferiority. And without an RCT, it is impossible to get that evidence.

There was a hypothetical survey (asking well men to imagine how they would react), but hypotheticals don't necessarily predict what they would really do:

Sure, and given the debacle after the 2021 USPSTF statement giving a "D" to PSA screening, I can certainly understand why those who might otherwise undertake a study are gun-shy. I know there are similar issues with DCIS in breast cancer and in papillary thyroid cancer, though I can't remember nearly the same amount of screaming and hair pulling (but maybe that's because I'm not so close to those other dubious "cancers").
