For those who are curious and not squ... - Prostate Cancer N...
For those who are curious and not squeamish the following link is a complete RALP:
Thanks for posting - I had RALP 8 months ago and watched a few videos prior. One thing that should be apparent is how complex and serious this surgery is (it's actually one of the most complex of all surgeries) - not trying to scare anyone away but make sure you do your research and speak extensively with your surgeon if you are considering RALP.
I skimmed through the video--that's all I could take, having gone through the procedure over 2 years ago. I had heard that they suspended your body vertically when they did the DaVinci procedure (which I assume this is?). This appears otherwise, thank goodness. The surgery is extremely complex, especially attempting to preserve the delicate nerves around the prostate, that regulate erection and continence. The whole anatomy of the prostate, its location, the urethra, nerves, and genitourinary tract are enough evidence to me that "intelligent design" is absent in the human body! But the main point is that as Kurt65 says, make sure your surgeon, the operating team, and the hospital are well-experienced in this incredible procedure. But don't let this video scare you away. The hardest part for the patient is the recovery and the radical life-change that this surgery causes. Be prepared as much as possible for that. Still, it is better than the alternative.
I met lots of guys that had the surgery and are doing great. Still not watching it.
Sorry I passed out....
Happy Birthday Uncle Sam.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
