Just wondering if people are able to comment on the feasibility of this.. I know everyone's effects are different. We have an event in Spain ( 2 hours flight) for 4 days which will fall 6 weeks after the end of his salvage radiation. It therefore involves flying. Dad is being very optimistic and still wants to go but my mother is concerned about him still suffering some adverse effects. We would like to book the flights and at present, he is only 3 sessions into the 33 to get any ideas. From those that have been through this, would you have been able to travel abroad 6 weeks after or would you suggest this is not a good idea. Appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks

He's worried of his continence. It was 95% prior to radiation but worries about that. He can deal with the fatigue when away but is nervous of other aspects. Thanks for the advice- I'll let him know!
He also is due his hormone injection on 15th. How big an issue is it being delayed until 17th or before on the 12th? He is on monthly injections? He's asked me to ask as he doesn't see his oncologist until next week.....
k538, there have been at least two recent threads (during the last two weeks, I think) regarding the timing of the hormone injections. The comments were fairly detailed. I don't want to give advice, so can you look for them? The consensus was that a week or so later is okay, but that it might be a different story with insurance if you try for earlier. I'm only answering because I'm seeing this thread later than others who replied, did see the earlier threads with an answer that could potentially help you, and because it looks like the replies for this thread may have come to an end. Good luck!
Yes, like others, I see no reason not to unless there is some unexpected complication in the process. I pretty much kept doing everything. I did travel to Ireland not long after my first hormone shot (more below) and later traveled to France after a hormone shot. He'll likely have some side effects like hot flashes, incontinence, but you'll have that anywhere. My feeling is one should aim to have as much fun as possible.
As I think more....I should say that my immune system was weaker in that 6 mos after my surgery and before radiation. So... I did get a very serious case if pneumonia and also came down with shingles on my flight to Ireland. So, if traveling, it would be a wise idea to 1) have travel insurance and 2) investigate where medical facilities are available in your destination.
