Just finished a block of nights, and am killing time before I see my obstetrician at 11am... Can bearly keep my eyes open, so have hit the full caffeine filter coffee! I wonder what's worse - turning up to clinic smelling of coffee or smelling of alcohol!!! I'm getting disapproving looks here!!!

(The coffee is AMAZEBALLS!) :-p

Lol! :)

This genuinely made me laugh out loud! I'm not a coffee or tea drinker (hot ribena or hot orange or water gal) But I could picture the tutting type looks. All things considered I think a coffee right now for you is very much warranted! Just smile at the disapprovers, they're just jealous! ;)

I was going to go and get my eye brows threaded (thought the abstract pain would wake me up), but don't want to go to clinic looking like someone has punched me in both eyes!!

hahahaha - glad I am not the only one drinking coffee !! Although I have to say my mom is acting like the police these days, almost made me cry (I think she is more nervous than I am!)

Good for you Doc - enjoy every slurp, I'm sure it's very well deserved!

I with you on the maternity police though - I mentioned to a group of family members over the weekend that I'm going to have my hair dyed this week (second trimester, using foils and with my midwifes blessing) and you'd think I'd told them I was going to take heroin and punch myself in the stomach - calm down people! ;-)

Clinic running very late :-/. Bloody NHS ;-)

High likelihood of falling asleep! Hopefully my consultant will wake me up when it's my turn!

lol, I kno wot u mean, I had a 500ml bottle of coke at work the other day and a man whose daughter is pregnant too which automatically makes him an expert said to me, shud u really be drinking that, to which my response was I haven't had coke for about 8 weeks and u r allowed some caffeine a day, as I don't drink coffee and hav gone off hot drinks I think I am entitled to drinking something cold and refreshing that I am pretty sure is ok in moderation, i bet he wished he never opened his mouth, its not like i was drinking a bottle every day, just fancied it and after ur night at work, i think ur entitled to what u want (0bv within reason lol) xx

Hi,

just had to say loved your post! I'm 29 weeks pregnant but look far more gone :-( and I always feel like I'm getting disapproving looks when I get a Costa latte from the hospital forecourt (I'm hospital based for work/study). I wonder if people are thinking I'm drinking coffee in labour ;-)

Its my second pregnancy and I need this last little caffeine luxury to make it through the day... Enjoy your coffee!!!!

I confess, my partner and I were out walking the other day and it was so lovely - the sun was shining and it was so warm I had to take my jumper off. We passed a pub next to the canal and the beer garden was calling to us. We stopped off and I was going to get a lemonade then I thought "sod it" and had half a pint of shandy. So that was basically about 3 mouthfulls of beer and a load of lemonade.

It was like every single person in the pub and beer garden suddenly couldn't take their eyes off me! But you know what, I had drunk at least 3 pints of water already that day and knew I would drink a lot more when I got home so I decided to ignore everyone and I savoured that shandy - it was like nectar!!!

And I don't feel bad about it at all. I've been so good not drinking, not eating my favourite foods (soft lovely cheese, rare steak, pate etc), not being able to go for long runs and bike rides at weekend for over 8 months now. I deserved treat :o)

All mums-to-be make their own choices and all those Nosey Nigels can bog off!!!
