I have read some places that women should gain between 8-14 kgs is this correct? I am 5ft 1 and that sounds like allot. Thoughts?

Have you being reading this info from a on-line blog by any chance. I must say/ be honest but dont you think that info is a bunch of BULLS**T.

It dosent take a genius to know that women are most likley to gain weight whilst pregnant. The amount of weight gained is ultimately going to depend on the woman's eating habits & culture.

Please please dont take these things seriously.

xx

it all depends on ur lifestyle, even if u eat well and do some kind of exercise theres still a possibility that u cud gain a lot of weight. I was really ill in the early stages of pregnancy with morning sickness but now I am back to the weight I was before I was pregnant plus a bump so, everyones different, my friend put on 3st (a lot of if was water) but my cousin literally put on hardly a thing, and was still wearing size 8 jeans till quite late in pregnancy so its just how ur body reacts, there is no amount that u shud gain but u shud be prepared to gain weight, whatever amount.

Right at the early part of pregnancy I lost weight... I was rather amused by that. I've put on 2 stone and tomorrow will be 38 weeks. I would suggest ignoring anything about weight gain, the most important thing is that you are healthy, baby is growing well. I've had my weight checked by my community midwife twice! At the 8 week appointment and week 37. I did have it checked when I went to the triage but had only had it checked one time. Your care provider will let you know if anything unusual is going on. Relax if you can and enjoy your body as it changes. It's a wonderful process, even the bits that are difficult! You'll always get support here! Congratulations on your pregnancy! :) Having lots of questions is good! x

Hi there,

I was 59kg at my booking appointment and now I'm 35 weeks I weigh 69kg.

I also lost weight in the early stages due to severe sickness, so I've now put on just over 1.5 stone (10kg), most of that just in the last few weeks as I'd only put on 6kg last time I weighed myself about 3 weeks ago.

I haven't had my weight officially checked since my booking appointment, but I know myself when I'm eating well and when I'm not (Easter has been a bit of a blip!) so I'm trying to keep healthy and monitor what feels right for me.

I do have a large baby and quite a large bump, but most people have commented that I am carrying 'all bump' ....though I know myself that there's also a little extra padding in places, although not too excessive!

Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy :) xx
