I am 24 Weeks pregnant ....Its been just over 2 days since I have felt my baby move... Is this normal? does the baby go through a quiet stage? Should I go see my doctor / Go hospital?

Thanks in advance

Hi I was just askIng my midwife this today. She told me after twenty weeks you will know what is normal for your baby eg awake on a night normally etc. she said if I was worried about babies movements at any stage ring them up and they will see me straight away and check for heartbeats etc. I'm sure all will be fine but give your midwife a call just to check.

Goods luck and let me know how it goes xx

If this is not normal for your baby, then get checked ASAP. But yes babies including mine I'm 27 weeks, has very quiet days and very busy days. Plus me placenta is at the front which cushions his kicks sometimes:)

Try this:

Lay in a quiet room on your left hand side, drink a freezing cold glass of water as quickly as possible plus a bit of chocolate, this should wake baby up, count how many kicks or moves you can feel.

Also if your busy this often rocks baby to sleep and you also might miss babies movements.

Have you got a doppler, if not get one they are great, angel sounds from amazon, put your mind at ease:)

ring the maternity dept now and explain they should tell u to go in and will put uon the monitor for half hour , they say If u haven't felt your 10kicks a day you should let them know x

Thank you ladies...

I called the maternity unit and explained whats been going on ... mind cramps 2 days ago then no movement for almost 3 days... she reckons its because at this stage my uterus has moved up a bit .. so there is more space for movement...

I will invest in a doppler... at least it will put my mind at ease :/

argos do the dopplers if u want to get one asap, but shocked they said that if your still concerned tmw ring ur midwife x

My Obstetrition laughed when I told her about the use of foetal dopplers having read alot about then on here, she said you are more likely to panic if for some reaoson you cannot find the heart beat and she said I would rather you call us if your worried. I have a Doppler and an Ultrasound machine at my place of work and some of my colleagues do scan themselves out of interest not because they are worried and others are afraid of seeing something they don't understand so leave well alone.

It's a personal call at the end of the day, I won't be investing I am just going to trust my body :)

My baby ( currently 37+6) has quiet and busy days, depends more on my other children. Now with the holidays two noisy children so baby is moving quite a lot. Normally i do have my set routine with his movements. I was told only.last week by my diabetic midwife not to count the movements but to.recognise the movements and pattern. My placenta is also at the front so couldnt always feel too much. I always lay down and had a ice cold drink and normally baby is active very soon after.

Hi YR81, I am 29 weeks tomorrow and get a lot of movement, but I wouldn't say that it follows regular patterns at all. I also had about 2 days a month or so ago where I felt almost nothing, and (while I am normally a worrier!) I wasn't too concerned as my midwife has said that a quiet day or two is completely normal. In addition to Skyblueboston's advice, I also find that doing my pelvic floor exercises seems to trigger movement, so try that. A friend also had a while with no movement, and movement was eventually triggered by her husband playing her the guitar. I guess every baby's different :) Good luck! x
