Congratulations:) yes for about eight weeks you might feel very crampy and sensitive in that area, and some women might spot around the time their period should have been due.

Stat taking pregnancy vitamins that include folic acid and cut down your caffeine intake.

Register your pregnancy with your doctor and then at about ten weeks u will have your first booking in appt with the midwife then your 12 week scan.

Good luck x

Hi there and welcome to the club! I'm 9 weeks along and yes you'll probably feel very 'heavy' (the best way I can describe it) and pre-menstrualish. I had some spotting as well, which freaked me out slightly but again it's normal and very common. Expect to be exhausted for the next 8 weeks or so too!

Hi Sarahp19, I had exactly the same 'pre-menstrual' cramps as you, really bad pains that lasted for hours when I was about 5 weeks, lasted til almost 7 weeks, was v worried as it was excruciating. Called NHS direct, they told me to go to A and E as it might be eptopic, I did so and they did some tests but found out it was not eptopic. Had a scan at 7 weeks and saw baby's heart beating, was such a relief as it was so scary at the time; all the nurses and doctors I saw said it wasn't really normal to be in such pain so I felt like a bit of a freak. However I have since seen many other women like yourself reporting exactly the same thing on here, so I wouldn't worry!!! I think if you have sharp pain and bright red bleeding it's more of a concern. But anyway if you are anxious go to your early pregnancy unit and they will check you out, best to put your mind at rest, I found them really professional and did not at all feel like I was wasting their time. Good luck! xxx
