14wks, i am struggling to sleep and get on with daily things due to back and pelvic pain. Also every time i cough i have pain from the hip all the way down one of my legs (sciatic?). Paracetamol helped for only an hour or so. Any tips?

Hi I'm 16 weeks and I'm really struggling with this too. I haven't found a solution for the sleeping yet but I was struggling to walk so I went to a physio which has helped a bit and she also gave me a crutch. This may sound a bit extreme but it's been a game changer for me! I can now walk with virtually no pain. I'm also starting an antenatal pilates class which I think will help massively at strengthening the muscles around these areas and therefore supporting the pelvis and lower back. Good luck, it's not nice!

Have your got a pregnancy pillow for sleeping? It's a large horseshoe shaped pillow that you hug and put between your legs. It saved me during my pregnancy and I still miss it now! You could also ask your midwife how to be referred to physio so they can help to.

Hi! I am sorry you have pains. I had serious back pains that started during the second trimester too. I went to a pregnancy physio who gave me exercises, recommended pillow arrangements that worked for me (the pregnancy pillows didn't cut it in my case) and also taught me how to do a massage. Her advice really helped me get through the third trimester as well. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.
