Long trip, second trimester

Hello Mamas,

I'm currently 25 weeks pregnant and will soon embark a short holiday with my husband which will involve about 9 hours by train. I'm well so no specific reason to worry and my Midwife already recommended to wear compression socks, drink plenty of water and get up for a little walk every 1/2 hour. Deep down I'm still concern that the journey might be too long and fear of feeling unwell. Anyone here who managed to travel long journeys while pregnant? Thank you!

Hi

I did a 12h flight while pregnant last time and I was completely fine, but like you I worried in advance. Frankly I used it as extra time to sleep!

Pack your favourite snacks, get a couple of good books or films you want to watch with you and it should be fine. Trains are also much easier to move around than other transport.

I was so glad afterwards I did a big trip while pregnant and before having my baby. It’s so hard to travel anywhere easily (and enjoy it) with very young children so I would say, if you are well, make the most of it now! The second trimester is the perfect time.

We drove from kent to cornwall last summer when I was around 6 months. You’re going to need to be getting up to pee a lot anyway so you’ll get your exercise in 😄I took my pregnancy pillow with me for the hotel but also a small pillow for my back for the journey.

Have a good trip! X
