Does anyone know the current procedures for birth partners in labour- following today’s announcements in England?
I know things seem to differ by area, but I just can’t seem to find any guidance on what will be allowed/ not allowed in my area and as it’s getting close- I’m coming up to 38 weeks- I do feel pretty nervous about it all. I had quite a difficult first labour and was in for hospital for 5 days post birth so feel anxious about the fact that I would be on my own this time around- fingers crossed for an easier ride with the second baby!!
I live Newcastle which has just gone into Tier 3 today and will be giving birth in the RVI, if anyone is local or has any specific info what happens there at the moment. Or even if anyone has any general information about what is allowed or not allowed then feel like at least I would feel more prepared! xx

If you look on thr gov.uk website it tells you on there. Birth partners are exempt from gathering limits in all tiers, but yes, just double check with hospital. Good luck xx
Speak to your midwife or hospital. This varies from hospital to.hospital and is not related to government guidance. In Manchester where I live different hospitals have different rules. Best of luck for a quick problem free delivery.
Hi I’m in Northumberland I will birthing at cramlington hospital as far as I am aware it’s not changed I’ve just had a scan and partners are still allowed. I’m not sure about hospital stays after birth when I had both my kids partner couldn’t stay over this was 15&13 yrs ago tho. I hate staying in hospital I’m hope I can leave the same day lol.
I’d speak to your midwife or hospital to make sure.
I agree, you're best to call the hospital and ask, also that can change quite fast, sadly. I also want to point out that soem women in my prenatal yoga pointed out that not all midwives in the team know about the latest rules so make sure you get reliable information, maybe call again and ask to speak to the head of the ward or something like that. Best wishes!
