Induction
Hello, i’ve one booked next Monday and have to attend alone. My OH can join once i’m 4cm dilated.
They normally can join you until you go to the labour ward, you should have been given advice from your midwife as to what your trust has advised. If not just call her and she'll clarify it for you.
I was induced last month and unfortunately wasn’t allowed my partner with me. They get to join you once you’re in established labour and get moved to the delivery unit x
Currently no due to covid restrictions at most hospitals, check with your hospital tho, at the moment partners aren’t allowed in until you’re 4cm x
I had to have an induction (2 weeks ago) due to contracting obstetric cholestasis (rare liver condition) in the later stage of 3rd trimester. I was told originally that my partner could only come in during established labour (4cm) however because I tried a different intervention to the pessary induction initially which unfortunately didn't work I then had to have the induction drip and as soon as I went up to the delivery suite (had own private room) I was able to call my partner to come in even though I wasn't in established labour yet. I think because induction drip births can happen quickly he was allowed to come earlier. So I think it depends on the hospital/circumstances so I would check with them.
Hello. It’s best to check with your hospital. I was induced 3 weeks ago at a hospital in Scotland, I had a private room for the induction and my husband was able to be there during the day until 8pm. He then went home and was called back in when I was transferred to the labour ward in the early hours of the morning. I hope all goes well for you.
As others have said, check with the hospital where you will be having the induction. I had an induction in October and my husband was allowed to be with me during the normal visiting hours for the ward and then I was able to call him back in when I was moved on to the labour ward in the early hours of the next morning.
