BaBy always hungry

Hi all

My 6 week old little girl seems to always be hungry. She never seems content. Maybe for an hour or so. Then she screams for more food

She sometimes has 9oz in what sitting

Can anyone help or advice . Ps she is a sicky baby

Perhaps have a read through about purple crying and the forth trimester, that really helped me to understand my babies behaviour in those early weeks and also the wonder weeks apo for when she might be more fussy as going through a developmental leap.

I also found I was feeding her when I was misreading her cues and causing her to get really agitated with me.

Maybe run through is she due a clean nappy? Is she too hot or too cold, is she tired or over stimulated? Or is it genuinely hunger.

Babies will nurse for comfort as well as hunger so maybe if she's overfeeding on formula introduce a dummy or let her suck your little finger so she has the comfort without the food,if she's truly hungry she won't be content with just sucking and you'll know it's really hunger.

Maybe also check out pace feeding, so that she takes the bottle more similarly to feeding at the breast, because bottles feeding they can take on a large amount in a short period, whereas breast takes lot more hard work on their part. It can be hard for them to tell they're full when they can take in so much so quickly.

Good luck, it's still early days and it does get easier as you learn what's normal for your baby as they're all so different.

9 oz is loads for a 6wk old... Are you sure she's not sicky/crying because she being over fed?? Babys have small stomachs and if they have too much it will just come back up. Babies enjoy the sucking bit, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are hungry.

At about 2 months, your baby may be taking 4-5 ounces (120-150 milliliters) at each feeding and the feedings may be every 3-4 hours

Would definitely have a chat with your health visitor.
