Hello, can someone help me please.

I am breastfeeding my baby but most of the time when he lay him on my bed, or pick him up he screams and screams as if he’s hungry. If someone else is around they can settle him but when it’s just me he only settles when I feed him. Can someone please help me I feel like I’m failing as a mum for not being able to settle my own son without a feed

I recommend reading wonder weeks. There is a leap on the 12 week mark which causes more crying, bad sleeping, clinginess and irritability. There is a book and also an app version and I highly recommend it. There is also a growth spurt around the 12 week mark which means baby will be ultra hungry and will certainly demand more feeds.. All very normal but If you’re worried, speak to your HV. :)

Thank you so much, I have the app but was too sure on what it all meant.

I have got my health visitor out on Thursday so was going to bring it up then to just wanted to know if there’s anything else I can do

Thank you for your help x

Have you considered silent reflux? It’s like heart burn - hence the screaming. Have a read and see if the symptoms match, could explain why he settles when you feed him Xx

Wouldn't explain why others can settle without a feed tho

He settles and 9times out of 10 he goes to sleep so could it be the screaming tires him out and the milks not around to he gives in?

Hi, it’s really common for babies to want to be close to mum and they feel safe on the boob - it doesn’t mean you’ve failed it means you are able to give him exactly what he needs to feel secure! :) breastfeeding is more than just food it’s comfort and love too.

And as said above he could be having a growth spurt too :)

^ this ... both my daughters would be fine if I'm. If there but if I'm there want cuddles from me ... and booby ... particularly bad when teething or growing spurts etc you're not doing anything wrong!

Thank you. As long as I’m not doing anything wrong. I just worry him being on there so much x

Thank you, I’ll bare that in mind. I just find it hard when there’s others around that hadn’t breastfed it makes me feel like I’m just always latching him on

You’re doing nothing wrong! Babies do latch on a lot sometimes. It’s perfectly normal. X

And perhaps the people around you- their babies might have been sucking on a dummy all day, or had a blanket or comforter or something. You’ve got the real thing :)

But he’s got a dummy, my boob and a muzzy. He really does use his dummy mind x

He probably just prefers boob as well :)
